Watership Down 105 km:
Our winter classic is on Sunday 12th January 2020. It is a challenging ride of 105 km organised by Winchester CTC under Audax UK rules and starts and finishes at Jubilee Hall, London Road, Kings Worthy, SO23 7QN, just outside Winchester.
The route is mainly on minor roads and goes via Barton Stacey, the Bourne Valley to Lower Chute, where there is a manned control. It then goes along Chute Causeway before dropping down Conholt Hill to Vernham Dean, Faccombe, East Woodhay. It then continues to Burghclere, Sydmonton, up Watership Down and then down to Whitchurch. From Whitchurch, it returns to the start via Hunton and Stoke.
A detailed written route sheet and gpx file are provided and are sent out with your confirmation of entry.
As usual, the Hatchet Inn at Lower Chute will provide coffee/tea and biscuits. The cost is included in your entry fee.
There are no entries on the day and the limit is 150 riders.
Mudguards are a condition of riding this event and there will be a bike check at the start to ensure that all riders have mudguards.
Mudguards are required at both the front and rear. As a minimum these can be a Crudcatcher-style guard at the front and a 'whale tail' (min 50 cm) at the back, but we strongly recommend that you fit full length mudguards, out of courtesy to the venues we use and to your fellow riders."
NO MUDGUARDS NO RIDE
