January 2021 - Lockdown 3.0

Club rides are currently suspended to comply with the new Covid rules. This page will be updated with whatever new rules emerge in the coming weeks.

The latest guidance permits exercise and is here 

You can only leave your home to exercise, and not for the purpose of recreation or leisure (e.g. a picnic or a social meeting). This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

---- by yourself

---- with the people you live with

---- with your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)

---- or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

 Fortunately we do have good local roads to get some miles under our wheels. Just watch out for the pot holes! Stay fit, sane & safe.

There is a list of cafes etc offering take away service here. Note that the list was created during the less strict lock down 2.0 and so will not completely reflect the situation in Lockdown 3.0

40-mile route

A clockwise route leaving Winchester via Easton. After the coffee stop it retraces the outward route a short distance before curving west, to pass south of Bishops Waltham.

43-mile route

Outward leg is the same as the 40-mile route. After coffee the route heads east on the B2177 for a mile before turning north through the Hundred Acres wood, then northwest through Swanmore and Bishops Waltham. This is a good basis for extending into a full day ride to the east, perhaps by continuing a bit further on the B2177 then heading towards Hambledon.

46-mile route

Same as the 43-mile route but with an extra 3 miles added on during the first leg of the ride. Designed for the fast group so that they arrive at coffee at roughly the same time as the 43-mile riders.
