Watership Down 105 km Sunday 9th January 2022

Entries are now open for our winter classic on Sunday 9th January 2022

We are likely to reach the maximum limit of 100 long before the closing date as this year,  the entry is limited to 100 riders to avoid overcrowding in the hall and Hatchet Inn.

For those of you not familiar with the event, the Watership Down is a challenging ride of 105 km organised by Winchester CTC under Audax UK rules and starts and finishes at Jubilee Hall, London Road, Kings Worthy, SO23 7QN, just outside Winchester.

The route is mainly on minor roads; From the start it goes via Weyhill to Lower Chute (manned control at The Hatchet), then up and along Chute Causeway before dropping down Conholt Hill, Then up Walbury Hill and down to Kintbury. From there it returns via Burgchlere, ascends Watership Down and down to Whitchurch. Finally, it returns via Hunton to the Kings Worthy..

A detailed written route sheet and gpx file are provided and are sent out with your confirmation of entry. There is further information on the Information Sheet (see below).

The Hatchet Inn at Lower Chute will provide coffee/tea and biscuits, the cost of which is included in your entry fee. This year, the entry fee also includes all food and drink at the start and the finish. This is to avoid the need for cash on the day.

Mudguards are a condition of riding this event and there will be a bike check at the start to ensure that all riders have mudguards.
